The Pavilion of Glass
This exhibition pavilion in the garden of the dr. Hostaš Museum of National History was built in the 1960s thanks to the so-called "Z" activity intended for the exhibition of Klatovy’s carnations. Later, the pavilion was used predominantly for amateur art exhibitions (for example AMTEX), which used to be very popular. In the 1980s, the pavilion was reconstructed and immediately served as the museum’s depository. Later it became property of the newly-developed Plzen region, as it was a part of the museum. In 2012, the City of Klatovy managed to reacquire the pavilion thereby opening the door to its revitalization. In the spring of 2013, the City of Klatovy set forth an architectonic tender for the modification of the pavilion; architects Martin Koznar and Jiri Biza of the Atelier 25 Studio won the tender with their project offering a simple resolution of the area including a concept of a quiet-zone and light. The pavilion was opened in 2014 and has become a relaxation area for the citizens of Klatovy as well as a visitor-attraction.

Based on a resolution made by Klatovy’s City Council, the City of Klatovy made a request for a grant in December 2013 from the 29th Summons of the Regional Operational Program ROP NUTSII South-West, support sector 14.3.1. – the development of infrastructure of tourism for the project: The Pavilion of Glass in Klatovy. In April 2014 the provider approved co-financing of the grant project.
The project deals with constructional modification of the former exhibition area of the National History Museum as well as its transition to a modern and attractive gallery. The building is located in the center within its historical zone. The main goal of the project is to develop a suitable and modern area for the placement of the exhibition of glass – not only Loetz’s historical unique collection but also the artistic work of current authors. Included in the implementation is the modification of the garden and access paths.
The main suppliers of the tender were selected based on a tender and include ALDAST, spol. s.r.o. and LOTECH design spol. s r.o.
Implementation started in February 2014 and ended in August 2014.
