November 14, 2017 – February 28, 2018

Glass of Masonic Lodges

Not only is the glass of Free Masonic Lodge of characteristic decors but is also of usual and specific shapes. Why is this glass different? How was and still is Czech glass used for Free Masonic Lodges? And why was it designed by Alfons Mucha?  Visitors will find the answers to these questions at this exhibition.

We will be expanding this permanent exhibition by adding more than 100 exhibits, many of which will be surprising and absolutely unique.

Painted Czech Saints from Šumava  

Reverse glass painting was a traditional folk art in Sumava as well as being the result of the work of big manufactory workshops. Each sector has developed its own different style but Czech saints have remained a permanent part of their work. In cooperation with the museums in Klatovy and Domažlice. Project by the occasion of the conference Baroque Jesuit Klatovy.   

May 10 - June 14, 2018

Stories of Czech Glasswork Ateliers 

The exhibition will present the stories of the founders as well as the current work of several contemporary glassworks ateliers which focus mainly on hot decorated glass.

Železný Brod Glass School

Yet another part of the summer cycle focusing on European glass schools.

This time the students of the High School of Applied Arts for Glassmaking in Železný Brod will be represented; all departments being taught at the school, from casting and carving glass to glass figures will be seen.

Art Nouveau Toast with Wine  

Art Nouveau glass designed by famous artists and architects is exceptionally elegant and a beautiful part of Czech glassworks production around the year 1900. Wine cups decorated by cutting, engraving, gilding and painting are perfect examples of the culture of dining at the time.

November 26, 2018 – January 31, 2019

Christmas Candle Holder
In November the days are shorter and the evenings are longer. It is a perfect time to light a candle and the inclusion of a candle holder is obvious - each person prefers a different kind. Visitors to this exhibition can see the way the students of the glass schools have perceived the candle holders for the Advent time or Christmas.
